Vermox Is A Remedy For Infections Caused By Pinworm, Hookworm, Roundworm And Whipworm
Vermox General Information
Generic Name: Mebendazole
Brand Name: Vermox
It is a remedy for infections caused by hookworm, whipworm, roundworm and pinworm.
Vermox Uses
It is an anti-worm medication. It is used to prevent the growth and multiplication of worms in the body. The medication is effective against infections caused by more than one worm at the same time.
How Take Vermox
Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water. One might choose to crush, chew or swallow the tablets which can even be mixed with food. It might take up to three days before the worm is removed from the stomach and the intestines. The time taken for the cure is dependent on the susceptibility of the worm to mebendazole and on the degree of movement of the digestive system. If the treatment falls ineffective, then a new treatment might be suggested after three weeks.
Vermox Warnings
Pinworm can spread from one person to the other due to close contacts. Recurrence of the infection should be prevented by disinfecting the toilets daily, and washing the towels, linens, clothing and pajamas on a daily basis. This medication is not meant for children below 2 years of age.
Vermox Missed Dose
The missed dose can be taken at any time, but if it is almost time for the next dose, then one can afford to skip this dose. But one should not go for a double dose of this medication.
Vermox Side Effects
Allergic reactions like swelling of lips, tongue, and shortness of breath, hives and closing of throat might occur in some individuals as side effects. Some people have reported other less serious side effects. One should consult his doctor in case he experiences side effects like diarrhea, fever or an abdominal pain.
Vermox Storage
Mebendazole should be stored at room temperature. The medication should be kept away from heat and moisture.
Vermox Overdose
A drug overdose does not mean enhanced effects while curing the infections. On the other hand, a drug overdose might lead to side effects. Many people who have taken Mebendazole in excess have complained about abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. One should report a case of mebendazole overdose if he thinks that he has taken the medicine in excess.
Vermox More Information
As mentioned earlier, pinworm infections pass on from one person to another on account of close contacts. Thus it is very essential to maintain cleanliness and to take precautions alongside maintaining the treatment with the medication. Bathrooms and clothing of the infected persons should be regularly disinfected to avoid the infection’s spread to other persons and to prevent a recurrence of the disease in the cured individuals. It is to be noted that the infections caused by worms are not cured through fasting, purging and laxatives. It has not yet been studied whether mebendazole causes harm to an unborn baby. But still, it is better to inform the doctor about pregnancy before taking the drug. It is also unknown whether the medication passes into breast milk. There are some drugs which interact with mebendazole, thereby decreasing its effectiveness. This includes medications to treat seizures like mephenytoin, phenytoin, ethotoin, and carbamazepine. Thus it is the duty of the patient to inform his doctor about all the over-the-counter and prescription medications taken by him including the vitamins, minerals and herbal products.
