Penlac, the generic name of which is Ciclopirox, is a nail lacquer.

Penlac Uses

It is used to treat nail infections caused by the ringworm Trichophyton rubrum. The medication is recommended only if the pale semicircle at the base of the nail is still uninfected. The medication can work effectively if other nail-care processes like professional removal of the unattached infected nails are properly implemented.

How Take Penlac

Before starting the Penlac treatment, one should take care to remove loose nail materials with the help of clippers or a file. Penlac should be applied evenly over the infected nails once every day. Applying the medication at bed time would allow it to stay on the affected areas. The lacquer is to be applied on the underside of the nails and on the skin lying beneath. With 30 seconds, the lacquer would dry up. After this, one can put on socks or stockings. But one has to allow a time gap of eight hours before taking a shower. Every week, the lacquer is to be removed with alcohol while the individual has to go on trimming the damaged nails as much as he can before he applies a new coat of lacquer.
