Nasonex treats nasal symptoms such as sneezing, congestion, runny nose caused usually by seasonal changes or round the year allergies. It also treats polyps, nasal growth in adults. Nasonex (mometasone) is a steroid. It prevents the release of substances in the body that causes inflammation.
Nasonex may also be used for some other purposes not listed here.
Nasonex Uses
Before using Nasonex, the doctor should be told if you have been sick or had an infection of any kind. Tell the doctor also whether you had glaucoma, cataracts, herpes simplex infection of eyes, tuberculosis, sores or ulcers in the nose or if you have injury or surgery recently. It takes about 2 weeks use of this medication that symptoms starts improving but treatment must be continued as prescribed by the doctor. Further, the doctor may visit you on a regular basis to ensure that Nasonex is not causing harmful effects on nose or sinuses. One should not miss out any of the doctors scheduled visit. Nasonex may lower the blood cells that help the body fight infections. People those who are affected or sick should be avoided. Persons who are using steroids are more vulnerable to chicken pox and measles. Such exposures can be dangerous, even fatal. Nasonex should not enter the eyes and ever it enters the eyes, eyes should be properly rinsed with water and doctor duly informed. Children's growth is retarded by steroids. Nasonex How Take
Nasonex should be used as it is prescribed. The medication should not be used in larger amount or use it for longer than recommended by the doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label. The usual dose of Nasonex is 1 to 2 sprays into each nostrils once per day. Before using the spray for the first time, prime the spray pump. Shake the medicine well, spray in the air and away from face until fine mist appears. Always prime the spray pump likewise, whenever the spray pump is idling for more than 7 days.
Nasonex Warnings
One should see to it that Nasonex doesn't enter the eye and if it enters accidentally, get the eyes rinsed thoroughly. A check up with the doctor will be necessary.
Nasonex lower the blood cells that normally fights the infections. Avoid being near people who are either sick or have infections. Askfor preventive measures from the doctor in case of exposure to chicken pox and measles which are supposed to be dangerous proposition for steroid ridden persons that may even turn fatal.
Nasonex Missed Dose
Missed dose as soon as remembered should be taken.But, if it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose may be skipped and the next schedule dose must be taken at the appropriate time. No extra dose to be taken to compensate the missed dose.
Nasonex Side Effects
Getting emergency medical help should be of prime concern, in case of the following allergic reactions:breathing difficulty, hive, swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat. However, the Doctor should be called at once if these serious side effects are felt:
- Severe nose bleeding
- Chills, aches, fever, flu symptoms
- Easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness
- sores inside the nose that won't heel
- Blurred vision
- Vision problem
There may be less serious side effects like stinging, burning or bleeding, sneezing, sore throat, watery eyes, cough, stuffy nose, headache, nausea, muscle pain, sores or white patches inside or around the nose.

Nasonex Storage Advice
Store Nasonex in an upright position at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. The medicine bottle should be thrown after using the spray for 120 sprays, even if there is some medicine left in it.
Nasonex Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention, if there is an overdose of Nasonex case.
An overdose of this medication is not going to produce life threatening symptoms. But, long term use of Nasonex may lead to symptoms like thinning of skin, bruising, changes in the shape or location of body fat, menstrual problems, increased acne or facial hair, loss of interest in sex or impotence.
