Levbid (hyoscyamine) can produce varied effects in the body like relief from muscles spasms. It can reduce fluid secretions of many organs and glands like stomach, pancreas, lungs, saliva glands, sweat glands, nasal passages. It is used to treat many different stomach and intestinal disorders such as irritable bowels syndrome, peptic ulcer. Levbid also controls muscle spasms in kidneys, bladder or digestive tract and reduces stomach acid. Levbid (hyoscyamine) gives relief to persons with symptoms of Parkinson's disease by reducing tremors and rigid muscles. This medication is also used as a drying agent to control excessive salivation, runny nose, or excessive sweating.

Levbid Uses

Levbid should not be used if the patient who will take the medication is allergic to it or he has the following ailments: Kidney disease; enlarged prostrate; intestinal blockage; severe ulcerative colitis; glaucoma; myasthenia gravis.

Before taking the medication, the doctor should be told whether the patient is allergic to any drug or he has the following physical disorder: heart disease, congestive heart failure, heart rhythm disorder, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, hiatal hernia. In case of all these, the patient needs the dose adjusted and /or special tests for safe use of Levbid.

Pregnant women and those who are planning to become pregnant along with breast feeding mothers should discuss with the doctor about their use of the medication since the medication may harm an unborn baby or hyoscyamine can pass into breast milk and harm a nursing baby. So, such ladies should not this medication till the doctor permits them to do so after knowing all the above details.

How Take Levbid

The medication should be taken as it was prescribed. Do not take the medication in excess amount or take it longer than what is prescribed. Follow the direction of the prescription label. The extended release tablet or capsule should not be chewed or crushed but the capsule should be swallowed in full. The liquid form of Levbid should be measured with a special dose measuring spoon or cup. The sublingual tablet form of this medication must be put underneath the tongue to dissolve there. Before using hyoscyamine oral spray for the first time, it should be primed with 3 test spray into the air and away from the face. In case of non use of the spray for 2 days or more, one test spray must be done for atleast one test spray as detailed above.

Levbid Warnings

One should not take antacids along with Levbid. Hyoscyamine may cause side effects that may impair your vision, thinking or reactions. So, any job that need the person to remain awake and agile like driving, should be avoided by the personAlcohol consumption should be stopped since that may make the medication ineffective. One should avoid getting overheated or dehydrated during exercise or in hot weather. Since the medication reduces sweating, there is always the danger of heat stroke.

Levbid Missed Dose

Missed dose to be taken as soon as remembered..But, if it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose may be skipped and the next schedule dose to be taken. No extra dose to be taken to compensate the missed dose.

Levbid Side Effects

Emergency medical help to be requested in case of the following allergic reactions:breathing difficulty, hive, swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat. However, medication should be stopped and the Doctor should be called if the patient has any of these signs:

Blurred vision
Uneven heartbeats
Unusual thoughts and behavior
Confusion, hallucination
Rash, flushing, or eye pain

There may be less serious side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, nervous feeling, blurred vision, insomnia, urination problem, change of taste, nausea, vomiting, bloating, heartburn, constipation, decreased sweating.

However, this is not a complete list of side effects and there may be others that may occur.

Levbid Storage Advice

Levbid should be stored in room temperature away from moisture, heat and light.

Levbid Overdose

Incase of suspected overdose of Fluoxetine, emergency room or poison control center should be called. Fluoxetine overdose symptoms in such cases are: headache, dizziness, sleepiness, vomiting, nausea, swallowing trouble, dry skin, feeling nervous and restless.
