Lamisil Oral is an antifungal agent. Its function is to kill sensitive fungi. Basically it treats a type of fungal infection of the scalp known as tinea capitis.
But, a person who is allergic to any ingredients of Lamisil Oral or having liver problems, should not use Lamisil Oral and contact the doctor or health care provider immediately for advice.
Lamisil Oral Uses
Before using Lamisil oral, one must ascertain whether some medical conditions interact with Limisil Oral. Doctor should be told whether he has any medical conditions especially if any of the following applies to him:
- If any pregnancy, intended pregnancy or breast feeding to new born is involved
- If any prescription, nonprescription, herbal treatment or dietary treatment is taken
- Any allergy is present to any medicines, foods or any other substances
- if there is any liver problem or alcohol abuse
Some medicines interact with Lamisil Oral. Health care provider should be told if the person concerned about the medication, take any of these medicines, especially the following: Cimetidine, Rifampin, Antiarrhythmics and Anticoagulants.
This may not be a total list of all interactions that may occur. The health care provider may be asked if Limisil Oral may interact with any of the medicines that the person who is taking the medication may be taking. Further, before start, stop and change the dose, the health care provider should be consulted.
How Take Lamisil Oral
Lamisil Oral to be used as prescribed by the Doctor. The prescription label must be checked for exact dose.
- An extra patient leaflet is available with Limisil Oral. The pharmacist should be talked if the patient has any questions to make.
- Lamisil Oral to be taken by mouth with food.
- Hold the Packet with the cut line ontop and shake it gently to settle the contents. The packet is opened by cutting along the line with a scissors.
- Sprinkle the packet contents over a spoonful of non acidic food. No fruit based food or applesauce to be used.
- Mix the food and the medicine and swallow the mixture. Do not crush or chew the mixture before swallowing and do not store the mixture for future use.
- To clear up the infection totally, take Lamisil Oral for the full course of treatment that usually about 6 weeks period.
Lamisil Oral Warnings
- Lamisil Oral works only on fungal infections but it does not work on bacterial or viral infections.
- Lamisil Oral should not be taken unless permitted by the doctor if ever you had allergic reaction to it, liver or kidney disease, problem with immune system or blood problems. Some dose adjustment or special tests by the doctorto facilitate intake of Lamisil Oral will be needed
- Pregnant or breast feeding mothers must take doctor's advice before taking the medication.
Lamisil Oral Missed Dose
Missed dose to be taken as soon as remembered..But, if it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose may be skipped and the next schedule dose to be taken. No extra dose to be taken to compensate the missed dose.
Lamisil Oral Side Effects
Emergency medical help to be requested and stop Lamisil Oral intakein case of the following allergic reactions:breathing difficulty, hive, swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat, a rash, changes in vision, blood problems. In rare cases, Lamisil Oral has caused serious liver damage, resulting in liver transplant and sometimes death.
However, notify the Doctor if the patient developsany of the signs like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, yellow skin, or eyes, itching, dark urine, or clay colored stools. These are early signs of liver damage. Other less serious side effects may also occur. Continue to take Lamisil Oral and talk to the doctor if you experience nausea, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhea, or flatulence, headache, loss of taste. There may be other side effects also which are not listed here. Talk to the doctor in case of any unusual side effects occurringor which is unusually bothersome.
Lamisil Oral Storage Advice
Lamisil Oral should be stored in temperature below 25 °C (77 °F) in tight container. Protect from light.
Lamisil Oral Overdose
Clinical experience with regard to overdose of Lamisil Oral is limited. The symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, headache. Seek medical attention.
Lamisil Oral More Information
Alcohol intake should be stopped or used in moderation while taking Lamisil Oral since Lamisil and alcohol can both damage the liver. Lamisil tablets are contraindicated if you have hypersensitivity to Lamisil.
