Flextra DS is having two main constituents' acitominophen and phenyltoloxamine. Acitominophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Phenyltoloxamine is an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. Incidentally, Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes and runny nose.
Flextra DS, therefore, may be used for the treatment of runny nose, sneezing, pain and fever that may be caused due to common cold, flu and seasonal weather changes, allergies et al.
However, Flextra-DS may also be used for other purposes not listed here.
Flextra - DS Uses
Flextra-DS should not be used if MAO inhibitor has been used by the patient within the past 14 days. Otherwise, serious life threatening side effects may occur.unless MAO inhibitor has got cleared from the body before the use of Flextra-DS. The medication should be carefully taken within the prescribed dose only. Excess dose may cause damage to the liver. The medication should not be taken if there is cirrhosis or liver disease unless Doctor advised otherwise. Before taking Flextra-DS, the doctor should be told if the patient is allergic to any drug or suffering from the following diseases: liver diseases, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, stomach ulcer, glaucoma, urination problems,an enlarged prostrate an overactive thyroid. In case the patient has any of these diseases, dose adjustment of the medication by the doctor will be required or some special tests for safe consumption of Flextra - DS.
How Take Flextra -DS
Medication to be taken as prescribed. Larger quantity should be avoided so also time period of its use should not be extended. Prescription label direction to be followed.
An overdose of acetaminophen may cause serious harm to liver. The maximum permissible limit of Acetaminophen is 1gram(1000 milligram) per dose or 4gram (4000 milligram) per day. One tabletmay contain 750milligram, so consumption pattern must be evaluated and directed by the Doctorwhich should be followed
This medication may cause unusual results with some medical tests. The doctor should be told that Flextra-DS is being used. Doctor should also be told if symptoms do not improve or the patient is having fever for more than 3 days.
Flextra -DS Warnings
One should be careful about the following while using Flextra-DS:
- Be careful while driving since the medication may have side effects to impair thinking and reactions as a result alertness and drowsiness may pose a problem.
- Alcohol consumption during this medication will damage the liver.
- During this medication no other medicines that causes sleepiness should be taken unless doctor advice otherwise.
Flextra-DS Missed Dose
Missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose may be skipped and the next schedule dose must be taken at the schedule time. No extra dose to be taken to compensate the missed dose.
Flextra-DS Side Effects
Emergency medical help must be requested in case of the following allergic reactions are noticed or felt: breathing difficulty, hive, swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat. Medication should be stopped and the Doctor should be called if the following serious side effects are observed:
- Fast and pounding heartbeats
- Chest pain, pain spreading to arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating
- Stomach pain, nausea, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay colored stool
- Jaundice, unusual weakness, seizure.
There may be less serious side effects like dry eyes, mouth and throat, drowsiness, blurred vision, restless feeling, less urination..
However, this is not a complete list of side effects and there may be others that may occur.
Flextra -DS Storage Advice
Flextra - DS should be stored in room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Flextra -DS Overdose
Emergency medical help will be required in case of any intake of overdose of the medication. Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, increased sweating, seizure or coma.
