Flexeril is a pain relaxant. It blocks nerve impulses or pain sensations that are sent to brain.Flexeril works with physical therapy to treat muscle pain and injury. Flexeril may also be used for other purposes not listed here.
Flexeril Uses
Flexeril should not be used if MAO inhibitor has been used by the patient within the past 14 days. Otherwise, serious life threatening side effects may occur. Further, Flexeril should not be used if any of these have happened to the patient: heart attack, heart rhythm disorder, congestive heart failure, heart block or overactive thyroid.
How Take Flexeril
Flexeril should be taken exactly the way it has been prescribed by the doctor. It should not be taken in larger amount or take it for longer period than prescribed. Direction as written on the prescription label should be followed. Flexeril tablet should be swallowed with a full glass of water. The tablet should not be crushed, chewed, break or open an extended - release capsule. Flexeril may impair thinking and reactions, one should be careful in driving or doing anything that requires one's alertness. Flexeril Missed Dose
A missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose may be skipped and the next schedule dose must be taken at the schedule time. No extra dose to be taken to compensate the missed dose.
Flexeril Side Effects
Emergency medical help must be requested in case of the following allergic reactions are noticed or felt: breathing difficulty, hive, swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat.Flexeril use should be stopped and the Doctor should be called if the following serious side effects are observed:
- Fast and pounding heartbeats
- Chest pain, pain spreading to arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating and
- Sudden numbness or weakness
- Headache, vision problem, confusion
- Light headed feeling, fainting
- Weakness and lack of coordination
- Stomach pain, nausea, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay colored stool
- Jaundice, unusual behavior, Seizure.
There may be less serious side effects like dry mouth and throat, drowsiness, blurred vision, tired feeling, loss of appetite, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, muscle weakness.
However, this is not a complete list of side effects and there may be others that may occur.
Flexeril Storage Advice
Flexeril should be stored in room temperature and away from moisture and light.
Flexeril Overdose
Emergency medical help will be required in case of any intake of overdose of the medication. Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, fast heartbeat, tremor, slurred speech, vomiting, nausea, chest pain, seizure.
