Eurax is a scabicide. The way scabicide works is not known yet. Eurax treat scabies and treat itching associated with certain conditions. Eurax may also be used for other purposes not listed here.
Eurax Uses
Eurax should not be taken by mouth. Eurax should be taken the amount recommended. Application to the mouth, eyes and nose to be avoided. Treatment should be extended to all infected sexual close contact points. Further infection may be controlled by washing all clothes, bed clothes, bed linens, hair brushes, and combs with strong cleanser, in hot water to remove mites and eggs.
Eurax should not be used if one is allergic to it. Any pregnant lady should seek doctor's advice before using Eurax. Similarly, a breast feeding mother should also seek doctor's opinion before undergoing Eurax treatment.
How Take Eurax
Use Eurax as directed by the doctor. Incase of any doubt about Eurax use, it is advisable to get it cleared by the pharmacist, nurse or doctor attached to the patient. No excess medication should be used than doctor's recommendation.
To treat scabies -
- Shake the Eurax lotion duly before use.Apply a thin layer of the lotion or cream to all body parts from neck to soles of the feet (since scabies does not infect head). The medication should be applied to dry skin and rub it in properly. Leave the lotion on the body for 24 hours and then apply a second dose without washing the previous application. After a lapse of 48 hours from the second application thoroughly wash off the medication.
To treat itching -
- Eurax should be messaged into the affected areas until it is absorbed fully. The process may be repeated as required or directed
This application should never enter eyes, nose, and mouth. Flush with water incase it enters those areas.
Eurax Warnings
Sexual intimacy and contacts should be avoided until the infection gets cured. Sharing of combs, hair accessories, hats, clothing's, bed linens and other articles of personal use, should be scrupulously avoided since these infections are highly contagious. Eurax should never be used on the face.Eurax should never be used on open wounds or cuts since that makes the body to absorb too much of the medication which is dangerous.
Eurax Missed Dose
Two doses of Eurax at 24 hours gap, is recommended. Incase of messing - up of the second dose, retreatment may be necessary. Doctor or pharmacist should be contacted and advice sought if a dose is messed up.
Eurax Side Effects
Serious side effects are unlikely. However, in case any allergic reaction as mentioned below, Eurax application should be stopped and emergency medical help may be asked: shortness of breath, swelling of lips, face or tongue or hives. There may be mild itching, burning or stinging on application of the medication. If the conditions worsens, doctor should be notified. Side effects other than what is listed here may also occur. If any unusual side effect which is bothersome occurs, it should be intimated to the doctor.

Eurax should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Eurax Overdose
In case of overdose of Eurax, seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of Eurax after ingestion include burning feeling in the mouth, inflammation of the mouth, throat, stomach lining, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
