Antivert is an antihistamine. Its purpose is to block the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body.Antivert is used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting, dizziness. It is also used to treat vertigo. Antivert may also be used for other purposes not listed here.
Antivert to be used as prescribed by the doctor or as directed on the label. Antivert should not be taken if the person is allergic to meclizine.Before taking Antivert, one must tell the Doctor whether he or she has asthma, breathing trouble, glaucoma, enlarged prostrate, or urination problems..But this medication is not for children less than 12 years old. Antivert has side effects and may impair with the thinking process of an individual or reactions. And, that is why, such persons who are taking Antivert should avoid driving. One should also avoid drinking alcohol since it increases some of the side effects. Persons feel sleepy after taking Antivert so any other drug or food that causes sleepiness to be avoided.
Antivert Uses
One should not take Antivert if he is allergic to meclizine.He should tellthe Doctor if he is allergic to any drug or he is suffering from the following ailments: asthma, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, urination problem. In case of the presence of these conditions, either he will not be able to use Antivert or the Doctor will have to adjust the dose or make special tests during treatment.
How Take Antivert
Use Antivert as directed on the label or prescribed by the Doctor. Not to be taken in larger amount or for longer period. Antivert should be taken with full glass of water. The chewable tablet may be crushed, chewed or swallowed. To avoid motion sickness, Antivert may be taken
an hour before the travel or activity that may cause motion sickness. For the treatment of vertigo, one may take Antivert several times a day but should follow Doctor's instruction. Due to the intake of Antivert, any allergy skin tests conducted may show unusual results. So, the attending Doctor must be told that the patient is taking antihistamine.

Antivert cannot be given to a child younger than 12 years old. Antivert is not harmful to an unborn baby. A pregnant mother must express her pregnancy to the attending Doctor
or the lady must tell if she has plan to get pregnant during the treatment period. Not known yet whether the medicine passes into the breast milk or it could harm a nursing baby. However, Antivert should not be taken without telling the Doctor that if the lady is breast feeding a nursing baby.
Antivert Missed Dose
Antivert is taken when needed. So, there is no fixed schedule of doses. However, if any one is taking Antivert regularly, take the missed one as soon as remembered. In case it is almost the time of the nextschedule dose, wait for the schedule dose and take it. Skip the missed dose. No compensatory dose to be taken.
Antivert Side Effects
Antivert has certain less serious side effects likedry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness or drowsiness. But, Antivert sometime show allergic reactions as mentioned here that need emergency medical help viz. breathing difficulty, hives, swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat.

Antivert should be stored at room temperature away from moisture, heat or light.
Antivert Overdose
Emergency medical help may be required if overdose of Antivert has been taken. Symptom of overdose is extreme drowsiness.
