To be generally healthy there are a number of things that you can do before you reach for any vitamin or food supplements, or think about medication.

There are two things in most of our lives that can affect our health and if we want to use them properly will make us healthy and here is a quick look at them and a few hints and tips on how to get healthy and then stay healthy.

These two thing eating clever and drinking water are things that we can do on our own to improve our health, they don't require cash or anyone else's involvement and in most cases will save you money - save money and be healthy now that sounds like a good deal.

Eating Clever
The reason why we eat is to get fuel into our bodies to do stuff - stuff like walking, talking, thinking, making love, running, sit - yes you get the picture.
Our bodies are like machines if we don't fill them up with fuel they we will come to a painful halt.

The better sorts of fuel for are body should contain little fat and it is usually suggested that an average adult's diet should comprise:
  • 55% Carbohydrates such as pasta, cereals, potatoes and bread
  • 15-20% from proteins such as cheese meat, and Soya
  • Less than 30% of our energy should be consumed from fats. The figures vary from men to women and are 70g/day for women, 100g/men

It might not come as a shock to learn that most adults exceed this recommendation and that is why it never hurts to miss a meal, but better still look at controlling what you eat.

The average man and woman need a fixed amount of calories a day for most women it is 2000 calories or less per day and 2500 or less for men, if you start heading towards those numbers you will feel fitter, trimmer and probably have more energy.

Drinking Water
Is there anyone on the planet who doesn't know that Water is the key to life? Probably nor! So why don't we all drink more water? It is great to see that the message is getting through and that in the main it is younger people with more of their lives to live that carry a bottle of water around with them.

On word of caution though water kills - yep just like smoking. Believe it or not if you drink too much water too quickly you can die so drink the two to three litres your body need daily slowly and over the day and you will feel great and look so much younger.

Water hydrates the skin and drinking the amount you need means that your skin improves and looks wonderful - just from drinking water and it doesn't have to cost a fortune - tap water in most developed countries is of drinking quality and can be safer than bottled water which may contain bacteria and if you ever look at the sell by date has the potential to be on a shelf for over a year.

Not only that bottled water, its packaging and transportation is a crime to the planet and an avoidable eco-disaster.
